On Wednesday, March 16th the Planning Department hosted the first of 7 re:code LA public forums to unveil the first components of the City's new Zoning Code!

Some of the highlights:
- Newly appointed Director of the Los Angeles Department of City Planning, Vince Bertoni kicked off the evening with opening remarks, noting how the new Code can help accommodate the City's diverse landscapes and achieve a collective vision for Los Angeles, and later stayed to discuss this with community members.
- re:code LA Staff presented the new Zoning Code system - it's modular approach to guiding building form and land uses, how the Code can be more user-friendly, how it can be applied to neighborhoods throughout the City, and more!
- Downtown Community Planning Staff was there on behalf of DTLA 2040, to explain how the Downtown Plan Updates and accompanying Downtown Code will be the pilot for the City's new Zoning Code System. Community members gave input regarding the draft core principles of the Plan, marked up maps identifying Downtown's many place types and favorite streets,
- Attendants received re:code LA swag, in the form of flash drives perfectly sized to carry in your wallet, The re:code Staff presentation and workshop boards were pre-loaded onto the 2 gig drives for community members to take home and share.
- By the end of the evening, many Downtown stakeholders and community members turned out to share their thoughts and learn more about the Code.
